Profile / 프로필
Eric Gabriel / 에릭 가브리엘My first experience teaching English as a second language (ESL) from 2002-2003 changed my life. At that time, I learned that even though I graduated from business school with a degree in marketing and advertising, I loved developing minds to gain skills for success.
After spending 2 years as a marketing director for a loan company from 2003-2006, I couldn't overcome the ethics of convincing someone to borrow money that wouldn't benefit them. Therefore, I resigned and began dreaming about teaching again. My love of teaching has only grown since then and my desire to improve other peoples lives through education has never been far from my thoughts since. From 2003-2008, my wife and I also invested in real estate then founded a property management company called Gabriel Property Management, LLC. Ever since high school, I had thoughts of being a rental property owner, but soon realized I didn't love money and wealth as much as I loved teaching people. In 2008, after much prayer, my wife, two children, and I moved to South Korea after accepting a job offer to train Korean engineers and managers at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, which was the 2nd largest shipbuilder in the world at that time. I was amazed to find out later that I was selected out of 170 applicants for the position. I felt like I had won the lottery to get paid to do something that I loved. After working at DSME for 3 years, budget cuts forced the closure of the HRD department and there were no openings for my family and I. So, I started teaching on a part-time basis at private schools and companies. Over the years, I've developed corporate training courses and assessments that have trained Korean employees how to communicate with foreign clients, created and facilitated engaging speaking activities for primary school students, and effectively taught and assessed 1000s of students. My primary goal as a teacher/trainer/facilitator is to deliver what each individual student needs no matter where they are in their development. Many people ask me what age group I'm best at teaching. I tell them the same thing every time. It doesn't matter how old a person is. If they are at level "A", I need to understand that and guide them to level "B". If they are at level "Y", I need to understand that and guide them to level "Z". |
